ABB Ltd. said Monday that it has signed a contract to power a new desalination plant in Abu Dhabi.

The Swiss engineering company said it will provide 30 panels of medium-voltage switchgear and 250 panels of low-voltage switchgear to the desalination plant, which will have the capacity to process over 900,000 cubic meters of seawater per day.

The plant, which will cost $500 million to build, will be fully operational in the fourth quarter of 2022, ABB said. ABB didn't disclose the financial details of the contract.

ABB has signed another contract to deliver automation, electrification and instrumentation solutions at a wastewater treatment center in Nashville, Tennessee, it said. The company didn't disclose the financial details of the contract.
