ABB announces that it has won an order in Turkey from Çolakoglu Metalurji, one of the country's leading steel producers, for the installation of an electromagnetic ArcSave (EMS), an ABB technology used to improve the efficiency of steel production in electric arc furnaces (EAFs).

This ArcSave EMS is intended to equip a 370-ton EAF furnace, the largest in the country.

This furnace, supplied by Primetals Technologies, will benefit from ABB's stirring technology (the process of stirring or mixing molten metal in a furnace) to enhance the production of carbon steel products, such as slabs, hot-rolled steel coils, ingots and rebar.

According to ABB, this technology will help Çolakoglu achieve its sustainability objectives through rapid chemical and thermal homogenization in the furnace.
