Abengoa receives new orders from Iberdrola I-DE Redes Eléctricas Inteligentes for its Eucomsa factory

  • These orders, received throughout the months of April and May 2022, are included in the framework agreements in force with Iberdrola since 2019 for the manufacture of transmission towers and crossarms.

June 13, 2022 - Abengoa, an international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainable development in the infrastructure, energy and water sectors, has received, through its metal structure factory in Seville (Spain), Eucomsa, a new order of 30 / 45 / 66 kV and 132 kV transmission towers as well as of bird protection crossarms. This new contract is part of the framework agreements that Abengoa is holding with I-DE Redes Eléctricas Inteligentes (former, Iberdrola Distribución) since 2019. It represents a sign of the trust placed in Abengoa by its customers.

The scope of the orders comprising this project includes manufacture of transmission towers and crossheads for Iberdrola projects located in the central, northern and eastern areas of Spain.

Abengoa will carry out this project through metal structures factory, Eucomsa, which, since its foundation in 1973, is a benchmark in metal structures sector in Western Europe, especially in Spain, Western Africa and America. Located in Utrera, province of Seville (Spain), Eucomsa is focused on the design and manufacture of steel towers for overhead transmission lines and telecommunications, as well as structures for electrical substations. Eucomsa is also a global leader in manufacturing of structures for solar energy generation facilities (parabolic trough collectors and heliostats), with manufacturing capacity of 50,000 tons per year.

Furthermore, the Utrera facilities have a unique test station in Western Europe, designed to check the resistance of full-scale structures with the capacity to test towers up to 72 meters high.

Among its main clients, together with Iberdrola, are Redeia (Red Eléctrica de España), Acciona Construcción, Elecnor, Sacyr, Cobra SEMI, Eiffage Energía, Instalaciones Inabensa, TenneT (Germany), Cegelec Maroc (Morocco), ESB (Electricity Supply Board) (Republic of Ireland), Zilinskis (Lithuania).
