Following its entry into the Financial Alliance for Women, ABN AMRO today announces the establishment of its Inclusive Banking team. Led by Chantal Korteweg, the team's first action is to identify the barriers experienced by various client groups such as female entrepreneurs. Next, they will work on interventions to remove those barriers. "We want to keep improving the inclusiveness of our products and services," says Korteweg.

Different clients have different needs

Analysis by the World Economic Forum, McKinsey, Oliver Wyman, and others, as well as our own internal data analysis, reveals biases towards customers. For example, specific customer segments such as women, generally have less access to business financing than men. By being truly customer-oriented and taking into account that different customer groups, including women, have different customer needs, we can adapt our approach or make a product adaptation that better suits that customer. This way we want to make our products and services more inclusive. This fits our social role and is commercially attractive.

Chantal Korteweg, Director of Inclusive Banking: Our first priority is listening, asking questions and putting ourselves in the shoes of our customers. So be really customer-oriented. We know that women have different customer needs than men. That does not always mean that they want a completely different product, but it could well be that a different approach or a product adjustment suits that customer better.

The establishment of the Inclusive Banking team is a logical consequence of ABN AMRO's entry into the

. ABN AMRO is the first Dutch bank in this international organisation, which has dozens of members, all working to champion the female economy and fuel transformation, around the world. Members are recognised for their leadership role in driving the industry and society as a whole forward, all the while growing their businesses in a sustainable way. By joining the alliance, ABN AMRO can start exchanging useful data and best practices with international organisations such as WestPac Australia, Bank al Ethiad and NatWest Group, giving a further boost to diversity and inclusion within the bank and towards clients.
