Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank : ADIB opens a new mosque in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, 01 June 2017: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a leading financial institution, has donated a new mosque in Abu Dhabi Named after the bank 'Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Mosque'. The mosque has now opened its doors to worshippers ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The mosque, located next to Al Bateen Airport, was inaugurated with a ceremony led by the Chairman of General Authority of Islamic Affairs, HE. Dr. Mohammed Mater Al Kaabi, and executives from the bank. The contemporary designed mosque has a capacity to host 641 worshippers, with a dedicated section for ladies that can take up to 158 female worshipers. The mosque also includes residences for the Imam and the Moazen.

'We are proud to have contributed to the construction of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank mosque with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments (Awqaf)' said Khamis Buharoon, vice chairman of ADIB. 'We have immense pride in the role the bank plays in serving UAE society through a wide ranging programme of CSR initiatives. The new mosque commemorates the heroism and sacrifices of UAE martyrs and will play a key role in bringing together the local community, particularly as we enter the Holy Month of Ramadan.'

Among ADIB's other CSR initiatives and programmes is support for financial literacy, spearheaded by its educational programme to help people understand and better manage their finances. ADIB also works hard to provide employment opportunities for UAE nationals. With a 40% Emiratisation rate, the bank hosts a number of roadshows and events aimed to identify potential new recruits among the young Emirati generation. ADIB CSR program extends well beyond staff and clients. Youth sports programs that encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, participation in charity events and support of SMEs are just few examples tat show ADIB's determination in supporting the community.
