ADIB gifts new mosque in Fujairah

Abu Dhabi, 07 November 2014: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a top-tier Islamic financial services institution, has donated a new mosque in Fujairah. Omar Bin Al Khatab mosque, which has now been opened to worshippers, has 2 minarets and 3 domes, 3 entrances and separate ablution and other facilities for 1,500 male and 150 female worshippers. The mosque also comprises residences for the Imam and the Moazen.

"We have worked closely on this project with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments (Awqaf)," said Tirad Al Mahmoud, CEO at ADIB. "As one of the largest and most successful Islamic banks in the country, ADIB is very well placed to support the community in this way. We are proud of the wide range of CSR activities that we now support in the UAE, and the chance to donate a new mosque is central to our community objectives." He continued.

Among ADIB's other CSR initiatives and programmes is support for financial literacy, spearheaded by its educational programme Smartmoney, to help people understand and better manage their finances.

ADIB also works hard to provide employment opportunities for UAE nationals. With a 48% Emiratisation rate, the bank hosts a number of roadshows and events aimed to identify potential new recruits among the young Emirati generation. Recently ADIB signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Human Resources of Sharjah to facilitate collaboration between the two institutions and to train and offer employment opportunities to a number of qualified and talented UAE nationals interested in joining the Islamic banking industry.
