FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) _ Acadia Healthcare Co. (ACHC) on Thursday reported a loss of $783.7 million in its fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Franklin, Tennessee-based company said it had a loss of $8.78. Earnings, adjusted to account for discontinued operations and non-recurring costs, came to $1.13 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 69 cents per share.

The provider of inpatient behavioral health care services posted revenue of $541.3 million in the period, missing Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $768.7 million.

For the current quarter ending in April, Acadia Healthcare expects its per-share earnings to range from 40 cents to 45 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $540 million to $550 million for the fiscal first quarter.

Acadia Healthcare expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.20 to $2.45 per share, with revenue ranging from $2.23 billion to $2.28 billion.

Acadia Healthcare shares have increased 2% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $51.36, a climb of 59% in the last 12 months.
