NEW YORK; Nov. 14, 2022 - Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has been positioned as a leader in the inaugural "IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Service Providers for Energy Transition and New Utilities Business Models 2022 Vendor Assessment."1

See Footnote No. 2

Accenture was commended in the IDC MarketScape report for key strengths, including its solid experience in almost all the use cases evaluated in the assessment, pioneering some of the most forward-thinking, innovative utility projects around the world; and the fact it continues to be recognized as extremely reliable in its execution, with an ability to mobilize the right resources globally according to the necessary skills and project requirements. Additionally, the report noted that Accenture has further enhanced its capabilities through several recent acquisitions and continues to make strategic investments in companies in its energy transition ecosystem of partners. Accenture's coverage and expertise across the globe and the utilities value chain was also highlighted, as was its dedicated Energy Transition Services (ETS) group, and its innovation assets.

Accenture was among 16 companies evaluated with an established reputation for providing services to the utilities industry at a worldwide level. Vendors had to offer a variety of services that support utilities' and energy markets' transition, net-zero programs and business model innovation across all segments and various regulatory models.

The IDC MarketScape assessed the capabilities and strategies of service providers, examined their comparative success in the marketplace, and how their offerings will evolve, providing context for utilities evaluating and choosing vendors on their path toward net zero and beyond.
Scott Tinkler, a managing director at Accenture who leads its Utilities practice globally, said, "Utilities companies have a crucial role to play in the energy transition and we continue to help them deliver sustainable business models while decarbonizing and improving infrastructure resiliency. Our work with clients goes beyond deploying familiar solutions for customer engagement, smart homes and renewable energy production to more advanced clean-energy opportunities such as autonomous plants, renewable hydrogen, connected low-carbon infrastructure and carbon intelligence services."
"Accenture continues to be a leader in supporting utilities across all their transformation efforts, including when it comes to successfully navigating the energy transition and developing new business models to support those efforts," said Gaia Gallotti, associate research director, IDC Energy Insights. "Our research revealed that the company is supporting many utilities around the world to deploy the most innovative, advanced solutions, giving it a unique position in the market."
The report is based on interviews with the end users (major utilities worldwide), detailed surveys and briefings with the vendors and publicly available information.
