Acconeer AB provided German start-up Packwise with radar sensor for their development of radar-based level measurement of IBC tanks. The interaction of two innovative solutions opens up new sustainable possibilities in container logistics, and the Dresden-based start-up Packwise and Acconeer are now working together. The A1 radar sensor is being used for the first time to measure fill level in a product targeting IBC tanks. Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC) are mainly used in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries. According to estimates there are 43 million plastic IBCs in circulation within the EU. In addition, there are almost three million steel IBCs. Series production of the Packwise Smart Cap will start this summer. The cap can be easily attached to the various models of IBC or steel drums. Because customers will have a better overview of stock levels, reordering can be automated and the logistics and preparation of containers can be improved. This enables increased and more efficient re-use of existing containers, which reduces the need to produce new containers.
