Yesterday, the 'Autonomous Logistics' project of Acerinox Europa, through which driver-less electric vehicles have started to function in the factory, received the ABB Ability Digital Award, the objective of which is to raise awareness and recognise public and private entities that are committed to the development and application of digital technologies to improve competitiveness and business sustainability.

The project, included in the Group's Digital Transformation plan, represents another step towards productivity, safety and environmental commitment thanks to these 100% electric and autonomous vehicles, capable of transporting stainless steel coils of up to 30,000 kilogrammes at a speed of 1 metre per second.

The Chief Executive Officer of Acerinox, Bernardo Velázquez, received the award in person, thanking ABB for the recognition and highlighting that 'our success, and that of the industry in general, is based on competitiveness, and that always depends on process efficiency, productivity, supply chain optimisation and service quality. The incorporation of technology and the reinforcement of Digital Transformation processes are, and will be, essential to continue improving in these areas'.

These concepts form the essence of the Acerinox Group's Digital Transformation strategy, condensed in the Excellence 360 Plan, in which the Group has combined the new advances derived from the application of digital technologies and the improvements obtained in the traditional plans of excellence.
