The British competition regulator, on reflection, has with Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The watchdog finds that the acquisition will not harm the game console market, removing a major obstacle.

Based on new evidence, the Competition and Markets Authority thinks there is little chance of Microsoft making Call of Duty, Activision's main game, exclusive to its Xbox console.

The regulator does still want to look at the impact of the acquisition on the cloud gaming market.

The European Commission also appears set to approve the acquisition, but will not provide clarity until May 22.

The reason for the delay is that Microsoft has offered several measures to make the acquisition acceptable to all parties. For this, the company will be given more time.

Microsoft has offered Sony a licensing deal, but it has not yet accepted it.
