SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) _ Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) on Tuesday reported third-quarter profit of $390 million.

On a per-share basis, the Santa Clara, California-based company said it had profit of 32 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 41 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 36 cents per share.

The chipmaker posted revenue of $2.8 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.56 billion.

For the current quarter ending in December, Advanced Micro said it expects revenue in the range of $2.9 billion to $3.1 billion. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $2.56 billion.

Advanced Micro shares have increased 79% since the beginning of the year. The stock has more than doubled in the last 12 months.
