SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) _ Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) on Tuesday reported second-quarter earnings of $710 million.

The Santa Clara, California-based company said it had net income of 58 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 63 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 54 cents per share.

The chipmaker posted revenue of $3.85 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.62 billion.

For the current quarter ending in October, Advanced Micro said it expects revenue in the range of $4 billion to $4.2 billion. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $3.8 billion.

Advanced Micro shares have decreased nearly 1% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $91.03, a climb of 32% in the last 12 months.
