Advanced Petrochemical Company reported earnings results for the second quarter and first half ended June 30, 2018. For the quarter, net profit rose 30.1% year on year to SAR 253 million on higher sales volumes and polypropylene (PP) prices. Sales revenue increased by 24.1% year on year to SAR 750 million. Operating profit was up 28.6% at SAR 247 million. Its second quarter earnings included a SAR 23.6 million profit from its investments in South Korea's SK Advanced. Net profit for second quarter 2018 compared to second quarter 2017 is increased by 30.1% mainly due to, increase in sales quantities by 4.9% and increase in polypropylene prices by 18.2% despite increase in prices of feedstock (propane and outsourced propylene). For the first half of 2018, net profit increased 10.1% year on year to SAR 351 million, with gross profit up 8.70% at SAR 395 million and operational profit up 10.7% at SAR 342 million. Operational profit was SAR 342 million compared to SAR 309.07 million a year ago. The sales revenue for the current period is SAR 1,253.8 million, an increase of 10.9% compared to same period last year of SAR 1,130.7 million.
