THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) _ Aegon NV (AEG) on Thursday reported a second-quarter loss of $388.9 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the The Hague, Netherlands-based company said it had a loss of 20 cents.

The life insurance company posted revenue of $6.59 billion in the period.

The company's shares closed at $4.64. A year ago, they were trading at $4.47.
