AEROPORTO GUGLIELMO MARCONI DI BOLOGNA S.p.A.: the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility fully approves the application for compensation for damages from Covid-19 presented by AdB S.p.A.

Bologna, May 10, 2022 - The Directorate General for Airports and Air Transport and Satellite Services of MIMS, by decree of the General Manager of May 5, 2022, notified to the Company today, has fully accepted the request for access to the fund for compensation for damages suffered by airport operators and airport ground handling providers, referred to in article 1, paragraph 715, of law no. 178, as increased by article 73, paragraphs 2 and 3, of the decree-law of May 25, 2021, n. 73, presented by the airport operator Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna S.p.A.

The provision, adopted following a positive opinion from ENAC, recognizes the exact amount of € 20,903,059.00 to AdB S.p.A., as compensation for the damages suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the period from March 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020.

This amount represents a partial recovery of the damages due to the pandemic, that has profoundly affected and is still affecting the airport sector and, together with the bank loans obtained by the Company in 2020 and 2021 and the operating cash flows generated thanks to the gradual traffic restart, albeit in a general framework of great uncertainty for the international situation, will contribute to the gradual recovery of the airport's activities, in particular the development of infrastructures and passenger services and the implementation of innovation and sustainability initiatives.

Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna, classified as a "strategic airport" in the centre-north area of the National Airports Plan prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, recorded in 2021 - a year affected by the global pandemic - 4.1 million passengers, ranking as the eighth biggest Italian airport by number of passengers (Source: Assaeroporti). Located in the heart of the Emilian food valley and the automotive and packaging industrial districts, the airport has a catchment area of about 11 million inhabitants and around 47,000 companies, with a strong propensity to exports and internationalisation and with commercial expansion policies to Eastern Europe and Asia.

As for airport infrastructure, the airport has among its strategic objectives in the next few years an important development plan that mainly concerns the expansion of the terminal, particularly in the parts of security checks and gate area. The company's aim is to make Bologna Airport one of the most modern and functional in Italy, an important gateway to the city and region.
