SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) _ AeroVironment Inc. (AVAV) on Tuesday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $2.1 million.

On a per-share basis, the Simi Valley, California-based company said it had net income of 9 cents. Earnings, adjusted for asset impairment costs and amortization costs, came to 48 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 30 cents per share.

The maker of unmanned aircrafts posted revenue of $92.7 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $82.1 million.

AeroVironment expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.74 to $1.94 per share, with revenue in the range of $390 million to $410 million.

AeroVironment shares have risen 47% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $90.45, a climb of 48% in the last 12 months.
