Aflac Inc. on Thursday said it was selected to serve as the claims administrator for the recently established Connecticut Paid Leave Authority.

The authority said Connecticut passed legislation "to create this comprehensive paid family and medical leave insurance program" and its mission is to "provide employees pathways to accessible paid family leave benefits."

Aflac said it would accept applications, determine eligibility, and administer benefits for paid leave. The company also said it plans to open new offices in Windsor in the state, and locate about 150 jobs there.

Aflac said it was selected through a competitive bidding process.
