- Agfa HealthCare innovation programs aim at both disruptive and incremental innovations. - Winners of Innovation Awards will be recognized for their accomplishments in creating new products and services. - Two-day Agfahack will stimulate innovation and start-up culture within Agfa HealthCare.

Agfa HealthCare announces today that it will hold its 2016 Innovation Day on June 21 in Antwerp, Belgium. Part of Agfa HealthCare's Innovation Week program, the global event offers an opportunity for innovation teams to present the outcomes of their EUREKA projects and for winners of the Innovation Awards to be celebrated.

Creative thinking and dedicated expertise
The EUREKA program, started in March 2011, gives staff from throughout the company's divisions the possibility to spend 10% of their time on potential innovations. The program thus continuously embeds innovation and creative thinking within the company, bringing together 'grassroots' ideas with the expertise of dedicated innovation labs, to create both products and services.

At Innovation Day, prototypes developed within EUREKA will be demonstrated to senior management and colleagues from all over the company. The innovators can pitch their ideas, and the audience can provide direct feedback.
At the event, the winners of the Innovation Awards will also be celebrated for their contributions to creating a results-driven innovation culture.
Several EUREKA innovations have already been implemented in revenue-generating solutions.

Agfahack Hackathon for teams with 'start-up' spirit
As part of Innovation Week, a 2-day Agfahack will be held in Antwerp in the lead-up to Innovation Day, bringing together a diverse group of participants - Agfa HealthCare staff and partners - with a broad range of skills. Teams will develop 'start-up spirit' solutions for one of the 10 emerging healthcare challenges. At the end the teams will pitch their innovation to a jury of internal and external experts, and the winning team will be able to pursue its ideas within Agfa HealthCare, with a chance to have the project ratified and rolled out in the company.

'The field of healthcare is evolving very rapidly, both from a technology, a clinical and a business model perspective.' explains Luc Thijs, President of Agfa HealthCare. 'Moreover, care is provided in a complex eco-system with many different stakeholders. We are actively co-operating with start-ups, with leading companies as well as with research institutes in the spirit of Open Innovation, the central theme of our Innovation week.'
