Ahold Delhaize announces that the Romanian authorities have approved the acquisition of 100% of Profi Rom Food SRL, Romania's leading food retailer.

Profi, which operates 1,751 stores and generated sales of €2.7 billion over 12 months, will complement Ahold Delhaize's existing business in Romania, operated under the Mega Image brand.

Claude Sarrailh, Managing Director Europe & Indonesia at Ahold Delhaize, emphasizes that this acquisition will strengthen the group's presence in the Romanian market, combining the complementary propositions of Profi and Mega Image to better meet the needs of urban and rural consumers, while driving growth and profitability.

The transaction is expected to close in January 2025.
