Air France-KLM said Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with CFM International for the purchase of engines to power the Franco-Dutch airline group's new fleet of Airbus SE's A320neo and A321neo planes.
Under the agreement, Air France-KLM will purchase 200 LEAP-1A engines from the jet engine manufacturer, a 50-50 joint venture between GE Aviation, part of General Electric Co., and Safran Aircraft Engines, a subsidiary of French aircraft equipment manufacturer Safran SA.
In December, Air France-KLM ordered 100 Airbus A320neo planes, with purchase rights for a further 60, as the company works on renewing and expanding its fleet.
