Airbnb : Helping Hosts lower their energy costs and make their homes more sustainable

Airbnb is proud to join Rewiring America and other US companies to promote the rebates and tax incentives to go electric made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Over the coming months, Airbnb will share information with Hosts in the US on how to take advantage of IRA benefits to purchase and install efficient electric heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, induction stoves, heat pump dryers or other home appliances that can help lower their energy costs and the greenhouse gas emissions that are driving the climate crisis. Hosts can use Rewiring America's Inflation Reduction Act Calculator to get a sense of how much their household can save by opting for electric household appliances.

"We know Airbnb Hosts in the US are interested in learning how they can adopt more sustainable practices for their homes, and we are excited to equip them with the right information and tools to help them take advantage of energy incentives that can save them money and reduce their carbon footprint," said Ameet Konkar, Airbnb's Head of Sustainability.

This is the latest in Airbnb's continuing efforts to help Hosts take more sustainable actions and reduce their energy costs, including by piloting ways to help our Hosts switch to renewables through partnerships with organizations like Effy, a certified renovation specialist in France, and Arcadia in the US.

Airbnb is also committed to helping achieve a stable climate. In addition to working with our community to help them reduce their impact, we have committed to operating as a net zero company for our corporate operations by the end of 2030 - a goal of reducing our corporate greenhouse gas emissions in line with our science-based targets, and using high-quality, nature-based solutions to address our residual emissions.
