Airbus announced on Thursday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Vietjet Air for the purchase of 20 wide-body A330-900 aircraft.

The aircraft manufacturer states that, once finalized, the order will be Vietjet's first for twin-aisle aircraft, in line with the airline's desire to offer increasingly remote destinations.

Fitted with the latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, Vietjet's A330-900s will be able to cover distances of up to 13,300 km.
