CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) _ Akamai Technologies Inc. (AKAM) on Tuesday reported second-quarter net income of $161.9 million.
On a per-share basis, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company said it had net income of 98 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.38 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.22 per share.
The cloud services provider posted revenue of $794.7 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $768.4 million.
Akamai Technologies shares have climbed 30% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has stayed nearly flat. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $111.99, a climb of 34% in the last 12 months.
