Aktia Pankki Oyj : Aarni Pursiainen becomes portfolio manager of the Impact fund

1. Why has Aktia been an employer of interest to you?

During my career, I have become acquainted with many Aktia employees, and I have been impressed by their expertise and positive way of working. Aktia has made significant efforts in wealth management and investing and has accomplished great things in this field.

2. What keeps you busy at work and in your free time?

I am very enthusiastic about impact investing, which is the area I get to work within now. It has been very interesting to familiarise myself with the fund's current and potential new investments. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, boating and fishing. Water has always been a very dear element to me.

3. If you had not had your career in the financial sector, what else would you have wanted to do for a living?

I have always been interested in societal phenomena and, most likely, I would be working in teaching or research carrying out tasks similar to the ones I have at the moment, but coming at them from a slightly different angle than the portfolio management one.

4. Which features do you appreciate in your colleagues?

I am so happy with the warm and helpful attitude I was met with when I started my work here. My colleagues have been very welcoming.

5. What kind of advice would you give to a 20-year-old?

You should study a field that you are passionate about. It would be good to get the studies out of the way quickly and to graduate, when possible, within the target time. I also recommend that you start investing at as young an age as possible.
