DUBLIN (AP) _ Alkermes PLC (ALKS) on Wednesday reported a loss of $29 million in its third quarter.

The Dublin-based company said it had a loss of 18 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense and non-recurring costs, were 14 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 8 cents per share.

The drugmaker posted revenue of $294.1 million in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $302.2 million.

Alkermes shares have risen 58% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 98% in the last 12 months.
