On November 30, 2022, TCI Fund Management announced that it has sent a letter to the Company questioning the Company's continued spending on its self-driving unit, Waymo. However, Waymo has not justified its excessive investments and its losses should be reduced dramatically. Further, TCI managing director Christopher Hohn, wrote in the letter that Waymo has benefited from the patience of the Company which began work on driverless cars more than a decade ago.
