Lausanne - Upon the approval by the Swissgrid Board of Directors, Alpiq has successfully concluded the divestment of the last Swissgrid loan tranche for CHF 48.4 million to an institutional investor as previously announced on 1 July. With this divestment, Alpiq has now realised a cash inflow of CHF 411 million of the total CHF 557 million.

Upon the approval by the Swissgrid Board of Directors, Alpiq has sold the last tranche of its Swissgrid shareholder loan with a nominal value of CHF 48.4 million to an institutional investor. Alpiq retains the embedded conversion rights for the loan tranche.

With the sale of the last loan tranche, Alpiq has so far realised a cash inflow of CHF 411 million. In addition, Alpiq will receive payments as compensation for keeping the embedded conversion rights during the remaining loan term.

Still pending thereby is the finalisation of the sale of the 50.1% majority shareholding to SIRESO for CHF 146 million. In its media release of 30 July 2015, BKW announced that it will exercise pre-emption rights.

Alpiq will use the proceeds primarily to reduce net debt in order to make targeted investments in the future.
