ALROSA December 29, 2020 - ALROSA successfully earned the re-certification of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), confirming the compliance of its activities and supply chain with the RJC Code of Practices, which includes provisions of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals, and high international standards in the field of business ethics, human rights, social and environmental responsibility.
In 2020, ALROSA undertook the second re-certification audit for compliance with the requirements of the RJC (Responsible Jewellery Council) Code of Practices updated in 2019. AO PricewaterhouseCoopers Audit conducted the audit.
It took a few months to conduct a comprehensive audit of all the companies of the ALROSA Group involved in rough and polished diamond production and sales. The audit covered the practices of ensuring decent working conditions for employees, their labor rights and freedoms, labor safety and health, environmental protection, anti-corruption and a responsible diamond supply chain. It is worth noting that compliance with the requirements of the Code of Practices was confirmed by the subsidiary ALROSA (ZIMBABWE) Limited, making it the first ever RJC certified company in Zimbabwe. The audit also included JSC PO Kristall which became part of the ALROSA Group in 2019.
Following the audit, ALROSA obtained RJC certification for 3 years, the maximum period granted by the RJC.

All this enables the company to ensure the ethical and responsible origin of its diamonds', said Head of the International Relations Department Peter Karakchiev.

Also it has a BB rating in the MSCI ESG rating system that assesses environment, social responsibility and corporate governance. Besides, the Company has ranked among Top-10 in the environmental responsibility rating of Russian mining companies, developed on the initiative of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) of Russia and the UNDP / GEF project of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. In 2019, the company received the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF) award for Community Stewardship.
