Alstom announces that the project to deliver 130 Citadis trains to SEPTA (the public transport authority for the Philadelphia region in Pennsylvania) is entering its final design phase.
The final design review is scheduled for fall 2025, prior to the start of production at the Hornell plant.
This project marks the introduction of the Citadis range in North America and could serve as a model for other opportunities.
A cabin mock-up and half-car were presented in Philadelphia for validation.
Led by Mariana Duarte, this project aims to modernize Philadelphia's aging tram network, requiring significant technical adaptation.
Alstom says the new trams will offer full accessibility (low-floor design, dedicated spaces, USB ports, audio-visual information system), while incorporating aesthetic elements inspired by the city's historic identity.
