"I was pleased to visit Alstom in Savigliano, a company that operates in the railway sector and demonstrates a strong commitment to a 'green' future of rail travel," declared the Undersecretary Vincenzo Amendola. "Among the group's missions there is in fact the production of the new hydrogen train, the flagship of the sustainable mobility of the future. Rail transportation is part of the dual revolution - green and digital - that underpins the Recovery and Resilience Plan."

"The visit of Undersecretary Amendola confirms Alstom's importance at central, regional and national level," explained Michele Viale. "It has been a real opportunity to discuss the numerous chances for the territory deriving from the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The funds allocated by Europe and the Italian government for the ecological and digital transition are keys to develop projects in sustainable mobility. In the coming years, building hydrogen trains will be critical to driving the green transition in the rail industry and Alstom is a pionner and leader in this domain."

The Savigliano plant, together with other Alstom sites, will play a leading role in the design and production of the first hydrogen-powered train in Italy, which will enter service in 2023 on the Brescia-Iseo-Edolo route and is being evaluated by other players and Italian regions interested in a green turnaround in rail mobility.
