Alstom: maintenance contract extended in the UK
With this contract extension, the duration of which was not communicated, Alstom will continue to maintain the fleet of 12 Class 397 trainsets operated by TransPennine Express.
Manufactured by Spain's CAF and owned by Eversholt Rail, these trains - which entered service in November 2019 - currently link Liverpool to Manchester airport, as well as Edinburgh to Glasgow.
Alstom will maintain them from its facilities in Manchester, one of the largest in the UK with a capacity of 300 trains per day, and Glasgow, which can accommodate up to 17 trains per day.
