Alstom has signed a contract worth €135m with Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL). The contract covers the design, manufacture, supply, testing, and commissioning of 96 Metropolis metro cars for Phase II of the Chennai Metro.
Under the contract, Alstom will manufacture 32 metro trains (three-carriage configurations) and provide full maintenance for 15 years after the warranty period.
These metro trains will be designed in India at Alstom's engineering center in Bangalore (Karnataka) and built at the Sri City plant (Andhra Pradesh).
