Alstom announces the commissioning of 36 new Class 730/2 trains for London Northwestern Railway in the UK.
Designed and manufactured at Alstom's plant in Derby, these five-carriage trains offer 20% more capacity on routes to and from London Euston station.
The new trains, featuring open gangways, power sockets at every seat and smart air conditioning, improve the passenger experience. The first commercial service was launched on 9 June 2025, between London Euston and Northampton.
Rollout will continue on the Trent Valley line through to the end of the year, with full deployment planned by the end of 2026.
This project represents a key part of London Northwestern Railway's £1bn investment in its network.
