Amazon.com, Inc. (NasdaqGS:AMZN) agreed to acquire a 76% stake in Prione Business Services Private Limited from Catamaran Advisors LLP on December 22, 2021. Upon completion, Amazon and its affiliated entities would have a 100% stake in Prione. Post completion, Prione Business Services Private Limited will continue under the leadership of the current management and on receipt of regulatory approvals, the Board of Prione and Cloudtail will take steps to complete the transaction in compliance with applicable laws. As of January 14, 2022, a petition has been filed before the Competition Commission of India as this combination raises serious concerns from the viewpoint of competition law. As of March 9, 2022, The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has accorded approval to Amazon's proposal to acquire the complete stake of Catamaran Ventures' in Prione Business Services.
