--Reuters published a special report Wednesday citing documents that the news agency said showed Amazon.com Inc.'s "strategy to dodge India's regulators."

--Amazon disputed Reuters' findings saying, in a written response to the news agency, that: "The reporting appears based on unsubstantiated, incomplete, and/or factually incorrect information, likely supplied (maliciously) with the intention of creating sensation and discrediting Amazon."

--The documents, Reuters said, showed that for years the online retailer gave "preferential treatment to a small group of sellers on its India platform, publicly misrepresented its ties with the sellers and used them to circumvent increasingly tough regulatory restrictions here."

--The documents date from 2012 to 2019 and include drafts of meeting notes, PowerPoint slides, business reports and emails, Reuters said.
