LEAWOOD, Kan. (AP) _ AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. (AMC) on Thursday reported a loss of $566.9 million in its first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Leawood, Kansas-based company said it had a loss of $1.42.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $1.28 per share.

The movie theater operator posted revenue of $148.3 million in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $151.5 million.

AMC Entertainment shares have more than quadrupled since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $9, more than doubling in the last 12 months.
