ST LOUIS (AP) _ Ameren Corp. (AEE) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $125 million.

The St. Louis-based company said it had net income of 48 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 50 cents per share.

The utility posted revenue of $1.55 billion in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $990 million, or $3.84 per share. Revenue was reported as $6.39 billion.

Ameren expects full-year earnings to be $3.95 to $4.15 per share.

Ameren shares have decreased 5% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has decreased 8%. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $84.51, an increase of 15% in the last 12 months.
