Interior designer Nate Berkus, an American Express U.S. Business Platinum Card® Member since 1996, has relied on the powerful backing of American Express since he started his design firm, Nate Berkus Interiors. Twenty-six years later, Berkus' firm is still considered a small business, and he has now teamed up with American Express and Dell Technologies to support their efforts to help small businesses by redesigning a New York City vet hospital in need of an updated space and technology.

Fellow small business owner and U.S. Business Platinum Card Member, Dr. Richard Fried, opened Lincoln Square Veterinary Hospital nearly 22 years ago with a commitment to the highest level of animal care. Today, the hospital team continues to experience the long-term challenges of the pandemic, including staff shortages with a higher volume of pet patients.

From one small business owner to another, Berkus understood the challenges that Dr. Fried was facing and shared, "Let's just say, people got pets and a lot of people didn't like their sofa anymore."

To help create a more seamless experience for Dr. Fried's staff and customers, Dell Technologies provided products including monitors, desktops and printers - all recommended by a Dell Tech Advisor. U.S. Business Platinum Card Members can enroll and get up to $400 in statement credits each year (up to $200 semi-annually) toward U.S. purchases with Dell Technologies. Terms apply. Learn morehere.

"Our enhanced Business Platinum Card is a powerful business spending tool, with best-in-class rewards and payment flexibility that meet small businesses' needs. We are thrilled to work with two incredible, long-standing Business Platinum Card Members and successful business owners," said Courtney Kelso, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Global Commercial Card, American Express.

Berkus said, "I've always believed in the power of design, and The Lincoln Square Veterinary Hospital has always had an amazing reputation with clientele and staff that have been there for years. To create an environment that inspires the staff and makes both long-term and new clients feel welcome, it was important to translate the personality of the business while understanding that at the end of the day, businesses need to be run like a business. Small businesses need to consider the internal business systems they use to support growth and expansion."

"Through the redesign, we're able to make connections with our patients in a warm and welcoming space. With the new technology, we can seamlessly, securely, and reliably manage our data-heavy workflow and medical and financial record keeping. Simply put, we can better serve our ever-increasing client base and the community at large," said Dr. Fried.
