American Express : Organization Announcement – U.S. Consumer Services

The following memo from Doug Buckminster, Vice Chairman and Group President, Global Consumer Services, was shared today with all American Express colleagues:

I am pleased to announce that Howard Grosfield is taking on additional responsibilities for our U.S. lending and co-brand businesses and is being promoted to President, U.S. Consumer Services from his current position of Executive Vice President of U.S. Consumer and Global Premium Services, effective immediately. He will continue to report to me and will join the Executive Committee on July 1.

Under Howard's leadership we are bringing together all of our U.S Consumer Card businesses to facilitate closer collaboration and gain synergies that will help further accelerate the growth of our biggest business in the U.S. With this move, Anthony Cirri, Executive Vice President, U.S. Consumer Lending and Co-Brand, will report to Howard.

Since joining American Express in 2004, Howard has demonstrated exceptional leadership, embodying our company values of serving our customers with integrity and trust and with a compassion and commitment that inspires his team. Under his leadership our U.S. Consumer and Global Premium Services team has delivered record results and shown incredible momentum that has contributed to our company's strong growth in recent years.

Howard and his team set a new bar for premium products last year, both doubling down on core value propositions like travel benefits and the global lounge network and adding a host of valuable new benefits and services across dining, entertainment, wellness, and retail. The success of Howard's vision has paid off in our results with strong Card Member engagement, particularly among Millennial and Gen Z customers, and record levels of acquisitions of U.S. Consumer Platinum and Gold cards, all while sustaining high retention rates across our Consumer products.
