American Tower Corporation specializes in owning, developing and operating of wireless and broadcast communications infrastructure. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- rental and management of communications sites (98.7%): wireless towers (224,502 towers owned at the end of 2023), broadcast towers and distributed antenna systems (integrated systems in operated in malls and casino/hotel resorts). The group also leases antenna space on communications towers, manages tower sites for third parties and provides rooftop management services;
- network development services (1.3%): providing of tower site acquisition, zoning and permitting services, and structural analysis services to wireless carriers in connection with the installation of communications equipment on towers.
