Did you know that one of the inventors of Adobe Acrobat is a huge 70s classic rock fan? Or when asked the question, 'who would you have lunch with dead or alive?' one of Amgen's leaders would choose honest Abe Lincoln?

Amgen's Phuong Khanh (PK) Morrow, vice president and global therapeutic area head of Hematology, Clinical Development, and Mike Pell, director of The Microsoft Garage, met over Zoom recently to talk about innovation and what drives them, both personally and professionally.

The conversation is part of a new video series called Innovation2 that Amgen Oncology created in collaboration with The Nation of Artists.

The concept behind Innovation2 is to highlight how some of the brightest minds think about innovation, what fuels their tenacity and how pushing against the status quo allows them to truly make a difference in the world. Each episode features one innovator from within Amgen and one innovator from another sector. The conversations are inspiring and entertaining, highlighting their personal contributions to today's cutting-edge science and innovation.

Amgen Oncology will be launching the series on Thursday, May 13th at 1:00 p.m. (PT) with a LinkedIn Live discussion between PK and Mike, introduced by Greg Friberg, vice president and therapeutic area head (Global Development), Amgen, and moderated by series producer, Elliot Kotek, founder and CEO of The Nation of Artists. Register here to join the event, and follow Amgen Oncology on LinkedIn, where you'll have a chance to submit questions in advance for PK, Mike and Elliot to answer.

Future episodes will be released throughout 2021, including:

  • Nurturing a Culture of Innovation: with Raymond Deshaies, senior vice president, Global Research, Amgen and Anousheh Ansari, CEO of XPrize
  • It Takes Tenacity: with Peter Kufer, vice president, BiTE Technology, Amgen and David Putrino, head of Rehabilitation Innovation at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City
