TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) _ Amkor Technology Inc. (AMKR) on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $55.4 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Tempe, Arizona-based company said it had profit of 23 cents.

The chip packaging and test services provider posted revenue of $1.17 billion in the period.

For the current quarter ending in October, Amkor Technology said it expects revenue in the range of $1.2 billion to $1.3 billion.

Amkor Technology shares have increased almost 5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $13.61, a rise of 69% in the last 12 months.
