WALLINGFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Amphenol Corp. (APH) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $369.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Wallingford, Connecticut-based company said it had profit of 59 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 61 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 55 cents per share.

The maker of fiber-optic products posted revenue of $2.65 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.47 billion.

For the current quarter ending in October, Amphenol expects its per-share earnings to range from 60 cents to 62 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $2.64 billion to $2.7 billion for the fiscal third quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $2.56 billion.

Amphenol shares have increased nearly 8% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has risen 17%. The stock has increased 33% in the last 12 months.
