WALLINGFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Amphenol Corp. (APH) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $465 million.

The Wallingford, Connecticut-based company said it had net income of 74 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 70 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 63 cents per share.

The maker of fiber-optic products posted revenue of $3.03 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.74 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $1.59 billion, or $2.54 per share. Revenue was reported as $10.88 billion.

For the current quarter ending in April, Amphenol expects its per-share earnings to range from 59 cents to 61 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $2.69 billion to $2.75 billion for the fiscal first quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $2.62 billion.

Amphenol shares have fallen 13% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has climbed 16%. The stock has climbed 14% in the last 12 months.
