AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. said Monday that the body of a missing miner has been found at the Obuasi mine in Ghana, and that production remains suspended at the site pending an investigation.

The mining company on May 20 said that it was suspending activity at Obuasi after the miner was reported missing following a fall of ground at the mine.

The body was found on Saturday by mine-rescue teams, AngloGold Ashanti said. An investigation into the incident has been launched and activity at the mine remains suspended pending an in-depth area-by-area assessment of the site, which will be reopened progressively, the company said.
