Danish container shipping giant A.P. Moeller-Maersk and Swiss-based peer Mediterranean Shipping Company said Wednesday they have agreed to end their vessel-sharing alliance in January 2025.

The two companies entered the so-called 2M alliance in 2015 to boost competitive and cost-efficient operations on the Asia-Europe, Transatlantic and Transpacific trades.

In a joint statement, the chief executives of both companies said that much has changed since the 10-year deal was signed in 2015, and terminating the agreement will allow both companies to continue to pursue their individual strategies.
