TotalEnergies (France) and its US-based partner APA Corp. have reported a new discovery in the Krabdagu-1 exploration well at Block 58 offshore Suriname.

In a statement dated February 21, the French major said that Krabdagu-1, which is being drilled at a site near the eastern edge of Block 58, had encountered about 90 metres of net oil pay. The well contains both crude oil and associated gas in good-quality Maastrichtian and Campanian reservoirs, it noted.

TotalEnergies did not speculate on the size of the find. However, it did note that Krabdagu-1 had been drilled at a site 18 km south-east of Sapakara South, another field within Block 58. The well appears to be on the same trendline as the other discoveries made at the licence area – Maka Central, Kwaskwasi, Sapakara Central and Keskesi, as well as Sapakara South.
