APA : $75,000 for flood affected communities

Australian energy infrastructure business APA today announced $75,000 of immediate funding for flood relief and recovery efforts with further support to follow.

APA's initial support will provide $50,000 to Rural Aid and $25,000 to the Business Council's BizRebuild initiative, which is chaired by Sir Peter Cosgrove.

APA will also match internal workplace donations up to $25,000, which will go towards Red Cross' effort to support people with flood clean-up or emergency relief.

'As a proud Australian business, the recent floods have affected so many of the communities and businesses in which we work,' APA Chief Executive and Managing Director Rob Wheals said.

'Communities that were previously grappling with drought, bushfires and the economic impacts of COVID-19 are now coming to terms with the enormous recovery efforts that will be required from major flooding.

'We are proud to support the efforts of Rural Aid and BizRebuild to quickly mobilise relief to communities who need it most, to get them back on their feet.'

Rural Aid helps farmers during natural disasters with support such as water, fodder for animals and financial and counselling assistance.

The Business Council's BizRebuild initiative helps businesses recover to create jobs, rebuild stronger communities and restore thriving local economies.

They do this through vouchers and grants for businesses to re-tool, seek advisory assistance and assist them to purchase equipment, so they can continue to operate.
