The U.K. Competition and Markets Authority said Monday that it is investigating whether APi Group Corp.'s planned $3.1 billion acquisition of Chubb Ltd. will lead to a "substantial lessening of competition" within its markets.
The regulator has invited comments from interested parties on the deal ahead of a further investigation. It has set a deadline for comments by Nov. 1, and a deadline of Dec. 13 for its phase 1 decision.
APi--a provider of safety, specialty and industrial services--said on July 27 that it had agreed to buy Carrier Global Corp.'s Chubb Fire & Security business.
